Ghost Month Hwangso-Ga: When the Ghosts Come Out, We Go Out

- August 10, 2014, Sunday.

- It is rare for me to go out with friends - or to go out at all - on Sundays. I usually rest on Sundays in preparation for the week ahead. For some reason, one of my high school friends Genevieve asked if we wanted to have some Korean food in a Korean buffet. It was strange that her mom was going to allow her to go out since it was in the middle of the Chinese ghost month, when going out was not advisable due to the height of paranormal activities brought by the opening of gates of the spirit world. (Genevieve's mom follows the lunar calendar closely.) Even stranger, I think, was that most people from my high school group agreed to go; it has been harder to organize get-togethers due to schedule conflicts and family concerns (ex. Sunday as a strict family day for some.) This time, it was too good to be true (for 9 of us to be present, unlike the usual 4-6 attendees per meeting,) and it would be a shame to pass up this opportunity.

- Today we went to Hwangso-Ga for their lunch buffet. Since it was a weekend lunch, the buffet cost was the 399php peak-hour price, instead of the usual 349php lunch price. The beef slices were also served with the samgyeopsal, something not done during normal lunch days.

YAY!!
- We maximized our stay in Hwangso-Ga, and maximized our tummy spaces. I always like how Hwangso-Ga's buffet, albeit being a smaller buffet than others, showcases a complete collection of the usual favorites. (Too bad they didn't have the baby potatoes in syrup today though.)

Water is the source of life??
- We left Hwangso-Ga at almost 2:30, and went to Robinsons to walk around and hopefully get over our food intoxication. I can't believe some of us even had tummy space for ice cream; as much as I wanted some ice cream due to the clingy summer-heat amid the rainy season, I was too full to have ice cream. (Boo.)

- We went home not long after since my other friends had to attend to other matters, but we had no regrets meeting today. Hopefully we'll all be able to meet again as a giant group like today.
