Not Miserable in Magnolia

- January 26, 2012, Saturday.

- It's been a while since I last blogged, it's been a while since I went out for a legit malling afternoon, and it's been a while since I last hung out with good ole Singson.

- Singson invited me the other day to spend this Saturday afternoon with him in Robinsons Magnolia, located near the Gilmore LRT2 Station. For several months now, I've been passing by the new mall whenever I ride the LRT2 to school, or from school to home. I've heard a lot of nice things about the mall, including shops and restaurants, as well as the Magnolia ice cream parlor located at the open area. The mall used to be Magnolia's factory, and hence, the mall was named as such after the factory was turned into another Robinsons mall.

-  Singson and I met around 12:30 and rode the train to to Robinsons Magnolia. We had lunch at Hainanese Delights, the restaurant Singson wanted me to try. Personally, I thought the prices were decent, and the food was great. However, I think the restaurant appealed to people most (especially Filipino customers,) because Hainanese Delights serves unlimited Hainanese rice.

- After scoops of Hainanese rice later, we decided to stroll a bit, and have some ice cream at the overcrowded Magnolia ice cream parlor, before catching our 3:40 showing of Les Miserables.

The bananas were covered in chocolateeeeeee~~~~

- Les Miserables was a very traumatic movie. Yes, it was a great movie, but it was traumatic because the singing and acting were done viscerally, and was an eye-opener to the social situation of France in the 1800s. I also received word that the singing was done while shooting, so the singing seemed raw, and "unperfect," which is why it turned out ---- perfect. (Pre-recorded singing doesn't usually seem to fit in with the exact emotion of the actor felt during shooting.) However, Singson and I both noticed that some verses or lines were not clearly sung, and we're both not sure if that had something to do with the actors, or the equipment used during shooting. Still, I applaud actors who were able to more or less wing the very difficult task of staying in tune while crying.

- The movie ended around 6, and we both went home. Hopefully, Singson and I will be able to hang out again, and maybe have ice cream again like two little boys with suspenders and helicopter caps.
